Importing from LinkedIn or a file

Updated Dec 15, 20242 min readPopular

Instead of typing everything from scratch, you can import your professional data from LinkedIn or upload an existing resume file. This can save you 20–30 minutes.

Import from LinkedIn

1

Click "Import from LinkedIn"

Find this button on the dashboard or inside any resume's editor.

2

Authorize the connection

You'll be redirected to LinkedIn to grant read-only access to your profile data.

3

Review and confirm

We'll show you a preview of the imported data. Edit anything that needs adjustment, then confirm to populate your resume.

Tip: LinkedIn imports work best when your LinkedIn profile is up to date. Take 2 minutes to review your LinkedIn experience section before importing.

Upload a file

If you have an existing resume as a PDF or DOCX file, you can upload it and we'll extract the text into editable sections.

1

Click "Upload Resume"

Located on the dashboard next to the import options.

2

Select your file

Supports PDF and DOCX formats. Maximum file size is 5MB.

3

Review extracted content

Our parser will attempt to organize your content into sections. Review each section and fix any misplacements.

Note: File parsing isn't perfect — especially for resumes with complex layouts, tables, or images. Always review the extracted content carefully before using it.

Supported formats and limitations

  • LinkedIn: Full profile import (name, summary, experience, education, skills, certifications)
  • PDF: Text extraction with section detection (works best with text-based PDFs, not scanned images)
  • DOCX: Paragraph and heading-based extraction with good accuracy
  • Images, charts, and tables in uploaded files are not extracted
